What to do in Rasht?
Rasht is a perfect base to discover the environment, the city itself doesn’t have that much attractions accept all the greens, some traditional houses and an old bazaar. But not far out of the city you will find the beauty of Gilan and getting a great impression of this area in the green north! Visit for example the tea fields of Lahijan, or just visit one of the many rice paddies in the region! You feel certainly like being in a far east Asian country by seeing the rice field. Believe it or not, this is also Iran!
Feel like a Gilani by wandering around in Gilan’s Cultural Heritage Museum. Where you will see different kind of Gilani cottages and other fascinating facts of this region. Also exist the possibility to go By boat trough the 15000 hectare coastal lagoon of nearby Bandar-e Anzali. It’s a pretty unknown place for foreigners, but Iranians love it to get some wind from the water whenever they go by boat trough the lagoon in spring or summertime!
And definitely don’t forget Gilan’s top attraction: the village of Masuleh, which is a traditional village in a spectacular location untouched by the modern age. It’s located 60 kilometers south of Rasht in a wooden valley and has its own construction of houses, language, rituals and clothing style.
