Bandar Abbas
Welcome to Bandar Abbas
What to do in Bandar Abbas?
Bandar isn’t blessed with a lot of must-see sights, but it’s a perfect base to make trips to surrounding places like Minab and the two islands Qeshm and Hormoz. But let’s start with the city itself, Bandar Abbas has some pretty sights to visit. Like for example the Hindu Temple! Built in 1892 and the costs where provided mostly by the Indian merchants who came to southern Iran. the temple belonged to their god Vishnu, and is always open to visit.
Furthermore don’t forget to visit the lively fish market just in front of the seafront. Come here especially at morning when the fresh fishes come in, from Barracuda to groupers. It’s an incredibly photogenic place, full of charismatic old salts happy to pose for pictures with their catch. Of course you will find also the normal bazaar not far from here, where they sell other foods, colorful clothing and other typical products of this region.
The Galadari Mosque is a Sunni Mosque, the structure, colors and minarets are different than other Iranian Shia cities. See and discover this place and its differences.
Take a visit to Minab, on a one and half our drive of Bandar Abbas you will find the colorful Thursday market of Minab where weekly thousands of people are heading to. Certainly a place for photographers and culture lovers.
As earlier told, Bandar Abbas is a perfect place to make daytrips to one of the surrounding attractive islands.
Qeshm Island is a stunning place because of its Star Valley, Harra Forest, the living fairytale village of Bandar Laft, an incredible salt-cave and much more! Go even scuba diving or discover dolphins by boat in short distance from the coastline.
Hormoz Island, also called the red island of Iran. this intact island is both a cultural and a natural highlight of the Southern Iran. Hire a rikshaw and explore the red tinted beaches, valleys, a Portuguese fort, Rainbow Valley, valley of statues, the salt cascades and more!
And last but not least, Bandar Abbas is well known for its magnificent beaches. Watch the sunset on one of the bright beaches and meet Bandari families, who certainly will invite you to join them!
