Urmia Museum
With more than 30000 valuable historical objects, Urmia Museum is considered as the second most important museum in Iran, right after the National Museum of Iran in Tehran. In this precious museum, you can see collections from the pre-Islamic period to the Qajar era.
About Urmia Museum
Urmia Museum was established in 1967 with a total area of 2000 meter square. This important museum is consists of two parts and you can visit this museum from Thursday to Sunday. Some of the ancient objects in this museum have more than 7000 years old.
Different Parts of Urmia Museum
As mentioned above, Urmia Museum is consist of two central part: Archeology part and anthropology part.
In the Archeology part of the museum, you can see three types of collection from the pre-historic, historical, and Islamic periods. Most of these objects were found during the excavation of important archeological sites of Iran like Susa, Sialk Hills, Islaeel Abad, and Rudbar.
You can also see some of the famous high-quality Lorestan bronzes in a separate section in the archeology part. A fine collection of historical coins is another part that you should consider visiting.
The smaller part of the museum is devoted to anthropology. In this interesting part, you can see the lifestyle of the local people of the West Azarbaijan. From traditional clothes and costumes to handmade pieces of jewelry.

Find Daneshkadeh St. and Barq St. junction, then turn to Daneshkadeh St. and go toward the east, after 8 minutes you will find the museum on your left.
